Golden Comets hens are predominantly golden red with white splashes in varying degrees and beautiful penciled feathering. A docile and very tame breed, they make great pets and are excellent for the backyard hobbyist interested in eggs for the home. They are a modern brown egg laying strain that produce fast body development and early egg production at five months of age. They are cold hardy and lay right through the winter months. Their eggs are a very large brown, perhaps the largest brown egg of any breed as they mature, which can vary greatly in color from a light cream to a deep reddish brown. Some eggs are speckled with small liver colored spots. Seeley Creek Valley Farm produces their own Golden Comets.
