Black Island are a cross that I developed between a Black Sexlink, also called Black Star, bred back to a Rhode Island Red. Black Islands are a quiet bird and excellent layer of brown eggs. They are predominantly black but some have varying amounts of brown and reddish penciled feathering. They winter well, laying throughout the year. Their eggs are quite large as they mature and are brown, which can vary greatly in color from a light cream to a deep reddish brown. Some eggs are speckled with small liver colored spots. Hatching eggs are available. Inquiries welcome.
